Today 22nd July, 2022, at the forecourt of the Zabzugu District Assembly, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ahamed A Iddirisu Adakwa presented Chest Freezers and other financial packages to fifty- three (53) persons living with disability.
This comes to five, the number of such solemn gathering organized by the Zabzugu District Assembly since 2017, to set these people up on the local economic development path. At one time, some were given sheep, and on another time, one acre of maize with inputs was cropped for each of the disabled.
While these are done, the Assembly equally rows the boat for their education by paying fees for them and foots, in some circumstances, their medical bills.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Hon. Ahamed advised them to put to good use items received. He intimated, that the Nana Akufo-Addo’s government recognized the financial challenges the disabled were simmering through and had therefore increased the percentage allocation of the District Assembly Common Fund to the disabled from 2% to 3%.
He encouraged them to brace the weakly psychological tag on them and make it as the abled do.
He also thanked the fund management committee for their commitment in vetting every letter applied for the fund.
